Interaction Design / Full Product Cycle / Participatory Workshop / User-Testing / Prototyping
My Toy Story is a toy for children to make movies, creating stories with/about their toys, their environment, and themselves. Children have active imaginations; they create entire worlds of interacting characters and story situations through play. We propose to use their existing means of interaction, which is the way that they physically handle their toys, to record and edit together streams of video to capture the essence of the story that these child narrators tell through their own narration. These narratives can also be stored as episodes in a database of the child's stories. The children can then share these stories, and collaborate on new stories.
This project was later on used as a starting point form a startup company. As one of the principals of the company I was responsible for market research, interaction design, and business planning.
